VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS THROUGH CASA INTERAMERICANA

CASA Interamericana, a Cotacachi based NGO, relies on volunteers to help construct and sustain its community projects throughout Ecuador. The assistance that volunteers provide is invaluable and contributes to the realization of long-term, integrated rural development initiatives.

In cooperation with CASA Interamericana we are seeking long-term (minimum 1 month) volunteers for the following projects:


PUCARÁ

The Spanish School in Pucará needs long-term volunteers to act as Inter-Cultural Coordinators for help with:
» Promotion
» Translation
» Cultural and tourism programs
» Volunteer program coordination

Pucara´s Eco-pueblo project needs ongoing help with:
» Maintenance of community organic gardens
» Maintenance of medicinal gardens
» Work in community tree nursery and reforestation
» Design and implementation of a variety of agroecology and permaculture projects

PERIBUELA


The Peribuela Eco-tourism Project is actively looking for individuals who have knowledge of, or can help in, the following areas:

» Tourism public relations
» Botany and/or plant species identification and cataloguing
» Trail design and maintenance
» Carpentry and ecological-design concepts
» Native species reforestation
» Orchids
» Historical and ethnographic documentation


PIJÁL

Sumac Pacha of the Pijál community is actively looking for individuals who have knowledge of, or can help in, the following areas:
» Tourism public relations
» Fishery or hatchery management experience
» Trail design and maintenance
» Carpentry and ecological-design concepts
» Native species reforestation
» Greenhouse maintenance and organic vegetable production
» Historical and ethnographic documentation

LA CHIMBA

» The community is actively looking for individuals who have knowledge    of, and can teach, the production of artesenal cheeses.
» Greenhouse maintenance and organic vegetable production
» Volunteers and students are also needed to help the development of    community tourism programs with input and analysis, and to    participate in talks on the history of the Kayambi and future visions for    alternativeland use and agricultural practices in the community of La    Chimba.

Volunteer opportunities of 1 week to several months can be arranged.
